Lake St. Catherine's shoreline is a haven for wildlife — eagles, loons, herons, ospreys, and a wide variety of ducks and songbirds share the water and woods with muskrats, foxes, and turtles.
Fish Species
Anglers fish St. Catherine for bass, pike, perch, and trout, with the lake's shallow coves and grassy shallows offering good habitat for panfish all summer long.
Birds & Wildlife
A breeding pair of bald eagles has nested at Cones Point for years, raising multiple eaglets. The lake's loon population has been growing steadily, too — after a pair showed nesting behavior in 2023, the Lake Saint Catherine Association installed a nesting platform in April 2024 to give them a place to stay. The Association also runs a lead-tackle and monofilament-line collection program, since both pose a real threat to loons on the water.
